Mystery shopping – have you heard of it? The job itself does not require much more explanation aside from the title as it is what it sounds like; shopping in mystery. That said, it does require you to blend in as an every day shopper while you catalogue certain elements of investigation while you shop which you will return to your client once finished.
A mystery shopper is hired by a company to shop their store and evaluate indicated areas of their business such as; the way their employees deal with their customers, the maintenance of the store, the products and services offered and the flow of transaction. After shopping, the mystery shopper will create a report on his or her shopping experience detailing the weaknesses and strengths found in their experience and then submit the report to claim payment. On top of it all, whatever products bought or services availed by the shopper will be reimbursed by the company!
Sounds amazing, right? However, becoming a mystery shopper has its own criteria. To become a mystery shopper, a person must be a keen observer so he or she can identify the slightest details inside a store. The mystery shopper must also be discreet in order for the employees not to be tipped off that they are under a mystery shopping audit.
A mystery shopper also needs to know how to formulate a detailed report to be submitted to the client company. It must be professional, thorough and not leave out any important details. Finally, just like any kind of job, a mystery shopper must be honest, unbiased and get the work done on time.
