Are Your Goals SMART Enough for Your Mystery Shopping Success?

Creating goals is an integral part of any person’s success. Goals enable us to see what we want our future to be and inspire us to strive toward that direction. If we fail to establish out goals, it’s like walking through a path without any idea of where you are going.

As a mystery shopper, you need to create your own goals, so you can have a specific direction in which to move. Creating goals means establishing a prize to look forward to at the end of your hard work.  For instance, if you want to reach a quota of fifteen assignments at the end of the month, you will strive hard to finish each project on time, so you can work on as many other assignment as possible to meet that goal.

Setting goals may sound easy, right? But, the question is, “Are your goals smart enough for your success as a mystery shopper?”

Believe it or not, there are goals that aren’t practical and only cause those who follow them to continue to strive and fail.  For example, instead of shooting for 15 assignments, why not reach a quota of 50 assignments by the end of the month? It may sound easy, but in actuality, it can be quite difficult and therefore result in frustration.

The types of goals you need to create as a mystery shopper need to be SMART enough not to fail you in the end. This means that you need to set out goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound.

For mystery shopping quotas, we specify fifteen assignments at the end of the month, which is also measurable, considering the number of wanted assignments you know you want to complete. Is the goal then attainable? Yes. Relevant to mystery shopping? Yes. Time bounded? Yes.

Going through your goals, you need to consider being SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bounded. If you follow this formula for creating your mystery shopping goals, you will be able to see yourself enjoying the benefits of achieving them all.
