Important Points to Consider When Creating Mystery Shopping Reports

You may have prepared well for your mystery shopping visit or successfully obtained the right information to report back to your company. But, if you submit a poor report, it will all be for nothing because that is where your findings are communicated to the client.

Mystery shopping reports are what help companies decide how to improve their businesses.  Have you covered all of the important points in your assignment? Have you double checked the paragraphs for correct grammar and spelling? Have you provided objective observations from your shopping visit?

For companies, they expect the report that is submitted to them to offer an insightful perspective on what is going on in their establishments and with their employees. It helps them make critical decisions, especially when it comes to employee trainings, store improvements, and customer service.

As a mystery shopper, creating excellent reports is what will make you more successful in your career. To help you create better mystery shopping reports, here are a few important points you need to double-check before submitting your findings:

  • Spelling and grammar – There should be no spelling or grammar errors in your report because it makes it look more professional. If you don’t naturally excel in these areas, use spell checks to help you.
  • Special instructions – There are special instructions in most shopping assignments that need to be covered. Review your report before submitting it to make sure you have  included everything requested.
  • Proper organization – Do your best to make your report look as professional as possible. Organize each paragraph well.
  • Important details – Make note of important details, such as specific employee names, etc.
