Do you love the idea of being a “secret shopper”? Having a mysterious job where you cannot be identified? Keeping the names of the businesses where you shop to yourself so no one will know what you do?
When people ask what you do, what do you tell them?
There are far more mystery shopping jobs than there are mystery shoppers. We need folks like you who see the benefits to being a mystery shopper to spread the word about the industry.
Don’t worry that your friends or relatives will take the “good jobs” from you. If you are a reliable, 5-star-report-writing shopper, you will always have work.
As many of you know, there are certain types of businesses that cannot be shopped multiple times by the same person because you would too easily be identified by the staff. These would include apartment shops, early childhood education shops, some banking shops, and anywhere you would have to identify yourself to the staff.
Other shops that can be done multiple times by the same shopper will often have a “rotation schedule” where the shopper cannot go back for a certain period of time. This will include restaurants, service stations and small retail establishments.
Mystery shopping is important to all industries and continues to be a popular form of market research in an ever-changing marketplace. In a highly competitive world, there is a need for corporations, mid-sized businesses and family-owned establishments to keep an eye on the customer service habits of their staff.
Our trade organization, Mystery Shoppers Providers Association (MSPA) is introducing new classes and certifications for mystery shoppers. While these are not necessary for you to become a mystery shopper, education and training are never wasted.
So share your profession with your friends and relatives. Sing on with new companies yourself. Our “Help Wanted” sign never comes down! We need you! (And we pay you $10 for each of your referrals once they complete their first job successfully!)
