Who Gets a 1099?

moneyWhile this time of year is filled with lots of fun holiday activities, we also need to tend to business matters as we finish up the year. This includes reporting to the IRS those who will be getting 1099s from Market Viewpoint.

  • If you earned $600 or more with Market Viewpoint in the year 2015, we are required by law to report those earnings to the IRS.
  • In January you will receive a 1099 that will reflect your total earnings for 2015. This is to be reported on your taxes.
  • If we do not have a W-9 on file for you, you will be contacted by us asking you to fill one out. It is VERY important for you to return it to us as soon as possible.
  • We are not required to report earnings less than $600. However, you might want to speak with your accountant about reporting any of your mystery shopping earnings. You might also want to discuss any write-offs you can take as an independent contractor.

December can be filled with lots of good things. Being prepared for tax season should be one of them!
