Last week, ABC News aired a piece on mystery shopping. The short, informative piece started a flurry of activity and interest on line about mystery shopping.
So how do you start mystery shopping?
As stated in the video, it is going into the same establishments you already shop, bank and dine in. The difference in what you do when you visit these places as a mystery shopper is you are looking for specific things.
Mystery shoppers might need to notice if:
- Items stocked correctly
- Store representatives approach you to see if you need assistance
- Additional products and services upsold to you
- The timing between courses at a restaurant
- Your transaction handled correctly
While there are no specific requirements to be a mystery shopper, there are certain skills you should have to be considered a good mystery shopper.
Each of these traits are behaviors or qualities that can be learned and improved upon as you get more comfortable with mystery shopping.
